The loss of a breast by Cancer is a terrifying prospect for any patient.
The body image and self-esteem of a woman facing a mastectomy is
sometimes shaken to the core by what they may perceive as an
amputation of a major body part, which may rob them of their
femininity.
Until the mid 1970’s there was very little that could be done to restore
the lost breast. Since then, multiple techniques have evolved which in
most instances can replace the missing breast with a newly
reconstructed one that sometimes looks better than the original.
